B. Sensitive Personal Information (SPI)

We collect the following categories of SPI, which are essential for providing the personalized diet service:

  • Health Information: Specific health conditions you report (for example, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, kidney disease, thyroid conditions, autoimmune conditions, and digestive conditions).
  • Demographics: Age.
  • Wellness Information: Wellness goals, activity level, and dietary restrictions.

Use of SPI. This SPI is used only for the purpose of providing the diet and recipe personalization service you requested. We do not sell or share SPI for cross-context behavioral advertising.

C. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Services: To input your health information and other data into our AI models to generate personalized diet suggestions and recipes tailored to your health conditions and goals.
  • To Process Content You Save: When you save a recipe from a web address, a social media post, a screenshot, or a photograph, we transmit that content to our third-party AI processing providers so it can be converted into structured recipe data separating ingredients, quantities, and preparation steps, and adapted to your dietary profile. This content is processed only to provide the Services to you.
  • To Improve the App: To analyze usage patterns and feedback in order to improve the accuracy and quality of our AI suggestions and overall Service features.
  • Communication: To send you updates, security alerts, and support messages related to your use of the Services.
  • Billing: To process subscription payments and maintain records of your subscription status.
  • Security: To monitor and prevent fraud and abuse.

3. How We Share and Disclose Your Information

We do not sell your Personal Information or Sensitive Personal Information. We do not offer financial incentives or price differences in exchange for the retention or sale of your personal information. If this changes, we will provide you with a clear description of the material terms of any such program.

We only disclose information as follows:

  • Service Providers (Contractors): We may share information with third-party vendors who perform services for us, such as cloud hosting, data processing, AI infrastructure, and payment processing. These contractors are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and are prohibited from retaining, using, or disclosing personal information for any purpose other than providing services to us. We encourage you to review their privacy policies, as we are not responsible for their independent data practices.
  • Content You Save from Third Parties: We do not publish, sell, or make visible to other users any content you save from third-party sources. This content is stored privately in your individual account and is disclosed only to the service providers described above, who process it on our behalf in order to operate the Services.
  • Anonymized Data: We may use and share anonymized and aggregated data, data from which your personal identity has been removed, for research, analysis, and promotional purposes.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, to respond to a valid notice of claimed copyright infringement, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Foodara, our users, or others.

4. California Resident Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights regarding your Personal Information:

  • 4.1. Right to Know: The right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for collecting or sharing it, and the categories of third parties with whom we disclose it.
  • 4.2. Right to Delete: The right to request the deletion of Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • 4.3. Right to Correct: The right to request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information we maintain about you.
  • 4.4. Right to Limit SPI Use: You have the right to limit the use and disclosure of your Sensitive Personal Information to only that which is necessary to provide the services you requested. Because we use your SPI only to provide the core service — personalized diet and recipe suggestions — no further opt-out action is required. We do not use SPI for purposes that would trigger a right to limit.
  • 4.5. Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond within 45 days, as required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

6. Account and Data Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the App by going to Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account, then confirming when prompted. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, health information, favorites, saved and imported recipes, recipe folders, grocery lists, food journal entries, meal plans, and other saved data. This action cannot be undone.

You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email address below. Some information may be retained where required by law, or in anonymized form that can no longer be associated with you.

7. Security of Your Information

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption and access controls, to protect your sensitive data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate regulatory authorities as required by law, and will provide information on the nature of the breach and recommended protective steps.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the Effective Date above.
